The Great Loss of the Twentieth Century

Book Cover Design | Interior Design & Layout | Art Direction | client: Joe Kadi

THE PROJECT:  Design a book cover and interior to reflect the layers of these linked short stories— stories that communicate the complexity of lived violence and intergenerational trauma with lyrical precision.

Joe and I worked collaboratively to create a cover that best illustrated his own aesthetics, as well as the nature and feeling of the characters in his stories.

“Liz created the cover, and designed the interior, of my book of short stories. She took the time to read my book, talk to me about the themes and all the ways these themes could be expressed visually—she paid attention to my work and this attention, combined with her artistic skill, helped to create an amazing design. All of her cover ideas were beautiful, and I could not be happier with the one that graces my book, and she gave the same depth of attention to the design of the book’s interior. Liz’s work exceeded all of my expectations. I give her the highest recommendation possible.
